The African Origin of Civilization Myth or Reality
by Cheikh Anta Diop
In Chapter Six, the author explained the ''intellectual swindle,'' (Diop., page, 133) that occurred with most western anthropologists when it comes to edifying and concluding the race of the Egyptian people in antiquity. The blacker, they find the people the more they are inclined to whiten the evidence. Many of them have racist ideas that contradict the nature of their findings. In an area of study that requires fact-based discourse and exploration, many have taken the route of whitening and undermining the black beginning of civilization.
Western anthropologists through their findings, ''failed to establish the existence of any white Egyptian race,'' (Diop., page 132). As a result of these findings, ''nasal index, '' (Diop., page 129) that was used in their exploration and study of Egypt was an attempt to credit the white race for Egyptian achievements and civilization. By any means necessary they used their privilege and academic space to promote a false narrative at the expense of Africa.
During the reign of the Egyptian empire, ''the whole Egyptian race was Negro, with an infiltration of nomadic Whites during the Amratian period, '' (Diop., page 131), that will explain the diversity in the land that would later come into existence. Being the only civilization at the time it was the place to be. Egypt attracted the whole world to her bosom and that reality leads to an admixture of cultures, blood, languages and influenced places around her surroundings.
